The Committee on Indexing would like to establish contact with any psychoanalysts interested in devoting a few hours each month to the Committee's various endeavors. Many of the projects are discrete, practical applications of data already on hand. For example, recent reports have included an evaluation of the quality of the recent Index of The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, an evaluation of tracing abstracts as abstracts through comparison with conventional abstracts; and suggestions to the Editorial Board of the Glossary of Psychoanalytic Terms and Concepts of terms that might be included and other terms that might be dropped, based upon the actual usage of different terms in the JAPA Index. In each instance, basic data necessary for the various comparisons was provided so that the time and effort of participating analysts could be focused primarily on those aspects of the comparison that would benefit from their analytic judgements or insights. A number of similar projects planned for the future would benefit from increasing the number of cooperating analysts who share in the work. Analysts interested in the work of the Committee should contact Dr. George H. Klumpner, Chairman.
