CAPE is co-sponsoring three discussion groups with the American Psychoanalytic Association during the Fall Meeting in New York. They are: “Supervisees View Supervision,” chaired by Barbara Gillies Deutsch, M.D., on Wednesday, December 15; “The Recent Graduate's Dilemma,” led by James Raney, M.D.; and, on Thursday, December 16, “Issues Facing the Spouses of Psychoanalytic Candidates,” under the co-chairmanship of Norman B. Levy, M.D. and G. Pirooz Sholevar, M.D. Graduate analysts are cordially invited to attend all these workshops and to offer their ideas as input to the discussion.
In particular, the Supervision Workshop is seeking articulate participants with varying points of view concerning supervision. The group which met at the spring meeting in Baltimore felt their views to be too similar to permit full discussion of many of the issues involved. For example, everyone there agreed that supervisors should share their reports with candidates and that candidates should have a method for evaluating their supervision.
Enthusiasm is high among candidates for these discussion groups. CAPE wishes to thank Dr. Arnold Cooper and the Program Committee for their generous encouragement of candidates' scientific activities.
