Twenty-two new members were welcomed into Active Memberbership in the Association with a special program arranged by the Committee on Affiliate Societies at the recent fall meeting. In extending greetings, Haskell Norman invited each to participate fully in both scientific and administrative functions. He then introduced Leo Stone, who stimulated a lively discussion with his presentation of “Thoughts on Certain Unique Conditions of Human Aggression.”
Following up on his 1968 Brill Lecture on “Reflections on Aggression”, Dr. Stone considered selected endowments and acquisitions of man, biologic and cultural, which influence the course of aggressive development and expression. Focusing on their relation to aggression, he spoke of the critical significance of the development of hand functioning, of the existence of speech, and of the utilization of fire.
After an open and wide-ranging discussion, the new members were guests at a luncheon with the Officers of the Association, who described the working of the national organization, again inviting full participation. Following the luncheon many attended the Exectuive Council meeting.
