To the Editors:
I read in the October NEWSLETTER Dr. D'Amore's letter concerning the situation of psychoanalysis in Argentina. I should like to emphasize that I agree with the context of his letter, and I reaffirm, as he states in his letter, that there is no evidence in the behavior of the government of Argentina of a hostile attitude against psychoanalysts. In Argentina psychoanalysts are free to teach and practice psychoanalysis not just privately but also in the state universities, clinics and hospitals.
About the question of anti-Semitism on the part of the Argentine government I affirm that there is none. I, myself, am a Jew and for several years I have been in a prominent position as Director of the Psychoanalytic Institute and President of the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association. I have never been a target of any kind of persecution. Jews and psychoanalysts can work freely in Argentina.
