To the Editor:
A widespread opinion holds that homosexual persons are generally ineligible for training in our institutes regardless of other considerations. It seems difficult to believe that this single attribute, which exists in so many men and women of otherwise very different structure of personality, can be a definitive reason for exclusion. If the opinion is incorrect, would it not be desirable for some normative body within the American Psychoanalytic Association to say so? And if, to the contrary, the view is a correct one, ought it not be made open to discussion within the Association?
