The Classics Library of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association has recently acquired a First Edition copy of Sigmund Freud's monograph THREE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE THEORY OF SEX. The new acquisition, a gift of Dr. Robert Bookhammer, completes the Collection of all the First Editions of Freud's major works.
Perhaps the largest of all collections of Freud's First Editions, these rare and precious books are on display at the Central Office of The American Psychoanalytic Association. They are available for scholarly study upon application. A brochure of the Library of Classics has been published in the Journal and also separately distributed to psychoanalytic societies and institutes, as well as to libraries and individuals for whom it would have significance.
The anonymous, magnanimous donor of the initial Classics Library had continued to complete the Collection in its entirety, save for the seemingly unavailable THREE CONTRIBUTIONS. In announcing this new gift, Dr. Harold P. Blum, Editor of the Journal, noted the importance of the Classics Library for The Association and for psychoanalytic posterity.
