The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, has announced the appointment of Harold Kolansky, M.D., Professor in the Department, as the head of the newly formed Section on Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis. Dr. Kolansky is also the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis for the Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis and is Chairman of the Committee on Continuing Education of the American Academy of Child Psychiatry.

The founding of this section with the appointment of Dr. Kolansky is said to represent the first such formal recognition given to child and adolescent psychoanalysis by a medical school.
