Dr. Leo Rangell was the invited keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the German Psychoanalytic Association held in Weisbaden, Germany, December 1, 1983. The theme of the Congress was “Psychoanalytic Psychosomatic Medicine.” Dr. Rangell's address was entitled “Psyche and Soma—Leaps and Continuities.” Dr. Rangell then joined Drs. Helmut Thoma and Robert Marten of Ulm in conducting a clinical seminar workshop on a case of spastic torticollis.
Following the Congress, Dr. Rangell was a guest of the Karl Abraham Institute in Berlin where he delivered a paper on “Defense and Resistance. An Essay in Honor of Anna Freud.”
Drs. Franklin G. Maleson and Edward R. Shapiro were appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association at the December, 1983 meeting to serve for one year.
