Psychoanalysts from various countries who are active in antinuclear activities have set up a steering committee to organize a meeting to take place in Hamburg at the time of International Psychoanalytic Congress.
The theme of this meeting will be “Psychoanalysis and the Prevention of Nuclear War.” Speakers and discussants will include John E. Mack, Hanna Segal, Albert J. Solnit, and Robert S. Wallerstein. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 1985 at the Main Building of the University, Lecture Room B, Edmund Simers Alle, Hamburg 13. Those registered for the Congress are welcome to attend.
On the Sunday before, July 28, a meeting limited to psychoanalysts will be held for delegates from established local groups or any other analysts who may be interested in forming such a group. The aims of that meeting will be to discuss progress in the formation and activities of such groups, to consider the best way to consolidate these activities on an international level, and to consider the most effective ways of participating in the public debate of nuclear issues.
Information about these two meetings will be available in Hamburg, but further information may be obtained by contacting either Miss Patricia Daniel, Flat 3, 7 Hill Road, London, NW8 9QE, England, or Mrs. Egle Laufer, 48, Abbey Gardens, London, NW8 9AT, England.
The American Psychoanalytic Association will sponsor its annual weekend workshop for qualified mental health professionals at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on November 23 and 24, 1985. The title of the workshop is “The Significance of the Interpretation of Dreams in Clinical Work.”
Saturday's program will begin with an introduction by the chairman, Arnold Rothstein and a historical overview by Leo Rangell. Two panels will be chaired by Philip J. Escoll and S. Joseph Nemetz. The panelists will be Paul Bradlow, Scott Dowling, Alan Eisnitz, Wayne A. Myers, Jerome D. Oremland, Paul Ornstein, and Martin Stein.
A Sunday morning panel is entitled “Conversation with the Panelists.” It will be chaired by Ethel S. Person. George H. Pollock will be the discussant and Erik H. Erikson the respondent.

A personal computer database which includes the bibliographic data for all articles in the major English psychoanalytic periodicals (IJP, IRP, JAPA, PQ, PSC) from 1920 to the present is now available. The data is contained on four diskettes: I—1920 to 1950; II—1951 to 1961; III—1962 to 1972; IV—1973 to 1984; it may be kept current by the individual user who will be able to view, modify, search, sort, list and print the material according to a range of criteria for a variety of purposes.
The database, “JOURLIT,” was created by a small group of colleagues who believe that immediate personal access to such a resource will be of obvious value to all students of psychoanalysis, writers, teachers, and researchers.
The software that is required to enter and retrieve data in “JOURLIT” is the well regarded, freely copyable, user-supported database manager program “PC-FILE III” which runs on IBM and IBM-compatible personal computers.
The data diskette sets will be shared on a nonprofit (nonloss?) basis. When some estimate of demand and the cost of disk-copying, packaging, and mailing has been determined, those who have expressed an interest (and included a SASE) will be informed.
