Dear Colleagues:

This is the first edition of the Newsletter under my Editorship. It may be a cliche to say that Gerald Fogel's work will be a hard act to follow, but it is clear that he has lent to the Newsletter his own distinctive stamp of excellence, and I have been proud to have served on his staff. Jerry has been kind enough to wish me well. I hope the Newsletter will maintain his fine standards, a task made easier by the fact that the Contributing Editorial Staff remains intact.

I see the Newsletter as a publication to serve the membership, informing them of the activities, problems, and progress of the Association and of psychoanalysis today. Obviously I depend upon the membership to further the ongoing dialogue between the Newsletter and its readership, and in this regard I welcome any and all contributions and responses.
