Last year an announcement was placed in the Newsletter to the effect that JOURLIT, a psychoanalytic database, containing all the references in the five major English language journals, was available at cost ($25.00 for a set of four disks) from Stanley Goodman, M.D. The notice added that these disks run without modification only under IBM-compatible machines and some others which use the similar MS-DOS system. (Since then some enterprising analysts have found ways to use the database on others.)
The data disks are controlled by an excellent and inexpensive program called PC-File III, not included in the sets we are offering. It can be copied from a friend who has the program; most of the documentation is to be found on the disk itself, or better, ordered from: Buttonware, Inc., P.O. Box 5786, Bellevue, WA 98006.
Since that time, Dr. Goodman has sent out more than 120 sets, and JOURLIT continues to be available from him. The same groups—from San Francisco, New Orleans, and the NYU Institute—have just completed BOOKREV, a database containing almost 5500 references to books reviewed in the same journals. The set of five disks can be obtained at a cost of $30.00 per set. They are available now from me at 1305 Antoine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115.
