Roy W. Menniger, M.D., President of the Menniger Foundation, has been named to the board of directors of TARGET, an arm of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Created in 1985, TARGET'S mission is to reduce the use of drugs and alcohol by high school students. TARGET attacks the use and abuse problem on two fronts: TARGET provides and promotes training in ways for high school students to take drug and alcohol use “out of style”. It also is developing a computerized resource center to provide specialized information on chemical use and abuse and on organizations offering treatment or intervention. They will offer anyone working with young people printed and audio-visual materials, guidance to financial support for chemical-health programs and consultation on chemical-health issues.
