Children-in-War: Towards the Integration of Research and Therapeutic Approaches, a conference planned for June 24-29, 1990 in Jerusalem, is being sponsored by the Sigmund Freud Center for Study and Research in Psychoanalysis, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and co-sponsored by The World Federation for Mental Health, The Department of Psychiatry, Cambridge Hospital, Harvard medical School, and the Israel Psychoanalytic Society. They hope to provide a forum for exchange of techniques and information between clinicians and researchers working under war-stress, those who have looked at it retrospectively, and those with a perspective of adults whose childhoods were spent in severe crisis situations. The aim is to review and build upon the pioneering work of Anna Freud, Dorothy Burlingham and Sophie Dann on children in World War II while learning of other approaches as well. The focus will be on children, a focus which should unify opposing factions who will be present: clinicians from the Middle East (Israelis, Palestinians, and Lebanese). Other contacts include mental health workers in Ireland, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Mozambique and Uganda. Contact: The Sigmund Freud Center, Department of Psychology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Mount Scopus, 91905 Jerusalem, Israel, telephone, Israel, 02883380.
