THE FREUD LITERARY HERITAGE FOUNDATION, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to ensure editorial preparation of the manuscripts of Sigmund Freud's correspondence for publication in outstanding scholarly editions, has embarked on editorial preparation of the Brautbriefe, the extraordinary collection of letters exchanged by Freud and his fiancee, Martha Bernays, during their betrothal. Ilse Grubrich-Simitis, psychoanalyst and editor of Freud works at S. Fischer Verlag of Germany, has agreed in principle to assume the laborious task of editing these remarkable letters, which number over 1000. S. Fischer Verlag is the tentative publisher. Further projects of the Foundation include complete editions of Freud's correspondence with friends and colleagues (e.g., Max Eitingon, Otto Rank, Karl Abraham, Oskar Pfister, Arnold Zweig, etc.), as well as family members (e.g., Minna Bernays, Anna Freud, his sons, brothers, etc.)
