We note with sadness the death of Mervin H. Hurwitz, M.D., on August 23, 1992. Dr. Hurwitz was actively involved in the affairs of The American over many years. He chaired the committee that arranged the 1979 Thirty-first Congress of the International Psychoanalytic Association, held in New York City. He also served as chair of The American's Committee on Arrangements from 1978 through 1985. Dr. Hurwitz was a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Institute, New York University Medical Center.
Psychoanalysis, educator, physician, and man of wide knowledge and love of fine wines and food, Mervin Hurwitz possessed an infectious love of life. His many colleagues and friends will miss him greatly. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Hurwitz, and by his children, Alison Grace Biondo and Jonathan Hurwitz.
