Three amendments to the Association's bylaws were approved by ballot mailed in October to active certified members. Together, these amendments provide for granting automatic active membership in the Association to affiliate members upon notification by their institutes that they have graduated, and allowing graduates of accredited institutes who are not affiliate members to apply for active membership upon graduation. These changes were originally proposed by the chairs of the Committee on Membership of both the Board on Professional Standards and the Executive Council, approved by the Executive Committee and then by the Board and Council.
Another change has been proposed that would allow candidates to become affiliate members at any time after acceptance by an institute, rather than having to wait for matriculation. This proposal was passed by Council and will be voted on at the next meeting of BOPS.
