I am puzzled by Dr. Virsida's letter. The details that he offers are elaborations on the distinctions that I made in my article. Perhaps some of the apparent differences arise from the different ways that we approach the issue of so-called functional equivalency, which I clearly distinguish from formal training. In any event, I thank him for his further information and join him in the effort to maintain and develop the greatest excellence in our psychoanalytic educational organizations.
