I cannot help but notice the disparate ways in which the candidacies of Dr. Robert Michels and Dr. Allan Tasman were handled in TAP 31/4. The prominent article about Dr. Michels identifies him as running for president-elect of the American Psychiatric Association and states that “both psychiatry and psychoanalysis would be well served by having him in a leadership position.” An article by Dr. Tasman appears in the same issue. The editor neglected to mention that he is also running for presidentelect of the APA.
Do I detect some bias? Alternatively, perhaps I detect a difference in how the two candidates operate. In any case, as editor, you should be more careful.
