Each APsaA member's e-mail address is recorded in the membership database in the Central Office, along with a notation as to whether the address may be published. The identical address, if published, is also shown in the online membership roster (see “Find a Psychoanalyst” on the APsaA Website.)
In addition to communicating with you, the Association uses your e-mail address to permit your access to the “members only” section of our Web site and to provide access to such e-mail lists as the Members' List, the Open Line List, the Announcements List, and the Association List (used for official documents).
Some members own more than one personal e-mail address, but it is very important for each member to select a single e-mail address for all interactions with the American. That address must be the address registered with the Central Office. It is also important that the address you select as your “official” address for APsaA purposes be the address from which you send all APsaA-related e-mail.
You can see how your e-mail address is entered in the Central Office database by looking yourself up at . Information shown there is updated almost every day. If you are unsure of your outgoing e-mail address, simply send an e-mail message to yourself. When you receive your message, look at the “From” line in the message header (the group of addresses and codes at the beginning of the message). If that address does not match the address in the APsaA database, you should correct the problem. For assistance, contact Brian Canty at the Central Office at .
“TechNotes” by Paul Mosher will run in each issue, with the aim of educating us about aspects of technology and communications relevant to our work.
