Overdracht in de psychoanalyse is slechts een bijzondere vorm van wat zich elders in de cultuur afspeelt: het gaat om een vorm van geloof. De psychoanalyticus die erover schrijft is dus vergelijkbaar met een theoloog: een gezichtspunt dat niet alle psychoanalytici welkom is.
