Go to sleep with a dream and wake up with a purpose
The focus of this article is on Frans Schalkwijk's personal experience of working as a psychoanalyst, forensic reporter and researcher. His field of interest is the theory and functioning of the conscience, in his clinical work as well as in his work with delinquent juveniles. A new theory of conscience is presented and studied, conscience being treated as a psychic evaluation function in which the capacity for empathy, proneness to experiencing self-conscious emotions and moral awareness interact. In a further neuropsychoanalytic research project, shame, invoked in a karaoke setting, was studied in relation to sleep disorders. A plea is made for the aim of active corroboration with academic research.
