Intersubjectivity in the work of Jean Laplanche
Perhaps one can say that the work of Laplanche is positioned between the classical and the contemporary psychoanalytic world as he conceptualizes a sexual drive which originates in contact with an other. In his work the intersubjective caregiver-infant situation leaves behind enigmatic reminiscences in the infant. Laplanche theorizes that these form the sexual drive which is fundamental for our humanization. In this article the author discusses intersubjective origin in the work of Laplanche, trying to follow the theoretical path Laplanche took and briefly discussing clinical implications.
