The problem of sexuali'ty: what's the problem?
Desire finds its primary symbolic design in the sexual body - particularly in the phallus. As a result, human sexuality, together with religion and death, belongs to the domain of the taboo. In our society the sacred dimension of the sexual body is still firmly anchored in the symbolic-imaginary order. This symbolic load determines specific characteristics of human sexuality, such as the shame with which the sexual is surrounded, the lack of reflection of sexual emotions, the existence of a sexual morality and of sexual perversions. Sexuality is not taboo because it is traumatising but vice versa: it is traumatising because it is taboo.
