Little secrets and big secrets — Creative and destructive influence of family secrets
Inspired by Meltzer and Tisseron, the author distinguishes between little secrets that sustain development and big secrets that lead to splitting of the personality and have a destructive impact, sometimes transgenerationally. Through the psychotherapy of an adolescent with psychotic symptoms it is shown that little secrets create a transitional space, help to deal with unthinkable secrets and alleviate the symptoms.
