Dear Dr. Bonnard,
I want to let you know in writing as well as in the words that I used yesterday that I very much liked your paper.1 I think it was rather overloaded, and in fact on second thought I believe that the emphasis on the tongue should have been left for another paper as it sidetracked the main issue. Perhaps you will not agree here but we could have had a better discussion if the paper had been shorter, in which case you would have had to have given us two papers at least.
The main thing is that what you are working at here is something that I find myself deeply in sympathy with. I think that in certain types of case we all of us have wasted a great deal of time interpreting quite correctly on levels which were not the deepest so that the material and the interpretations in the whole analysis are exploited inevitably by the patient who of course would much prefer it if we could get through to the deeper elements.
Very many thanks, Yours sincerely,
