VII, Erzsébet-körút 54
Dear Professor,
I don't know if these lines have reached you in Vienna still, but I hope that the letter's contents will be forwarded to you
I can make your question marks superfluous in a very calming manner. I knew that you were overloaded with work and that in addition you have to make all kinds of preparations for the trip, so I wanted at least to spare you the effort of answering my letters. Also, the things I could have written to you are mostly of a scientific nature, and we will be able to dispense with them in a much more comfortable and profitable fashion on the deck of the “Washington.”
I am happy that you were able to withdraw for a time from the grinding work, and I wish you nice weather and good mood for your vacation and (if this wish doesn't do any harm in the hunt for vegetables) a rich harvest of mushrooms. You write me that the Hotel Post Reutte is situated on the Bavarian-Tyrolian border, only I don't know whether it is in Bavaria or Tyrol? Please be so kind as to let me know which. The material side of this practice is gradually improving, especially since I no longer accept any new nonpaying patients.
In the evenings I am usually so tired that I don't feel any real desire for work. Then, caught between duty and desire, I grasp for the compromise of reading your works. I am now reading the last chapters of the “Interpretation of Dreams” for the nth time—each time I get new insights from it and clarifications which I had overlooked, or hidden, as it were. I believe that the “Interpretation of Dreams” contains the kernel of everything that we know and will have to work on for the foreseeable future.
Most cordial greetings to you and your dear family from your obedient
Dr. Ferenczi
