Dear Professor,
It remains as planned: we will meet in Bremen.
My itinerary may undergo some changes in details, but this much stands firm, that I will already be there on the evening of the 19th. I will then await you at the train at 5:35 A.M. and reserve a room for you at the hotel. It says in Baedeker: “Hotels on day before departure of passenger liners for North America often filled. Room reservations recommended.” I will therefore reserve the rooms (yours for the 20th) by telegram already on the 17th-18th I have chosen the first-named Hotel Hillmann, not far from the railway station; if there is no room available there I will settle for the Hotel de 1'Europe (Both on the Herdentorsteinweg.)
It was not easy for me to pass up the visit to Ammerwald. The longing for “real freedom” was not among the motives that brought me to this decision, however. Now I can admit it. I didn't want to disturb your vacation with my visit, which certainly would have degenerated into psychoanalytic conversations.
My intestinal inflammation has disappeared; to be sure, I did everything to achieve that end; I didn't want to be a burdensome traveling companion.
Kindest regards to your dear family. Looking forward to seeing you again soon, I am
Yours,
Dr. Ferenczi
