Vienna, July 10, 1910
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
Did I really ever doubt that persons like you could develop themselves? I think my pessimism had more to do with the weak people whom we are supposed to change through our influence, not those who can bring about something from themselves, with the support of external influences.
I am glad that you are already as far along as I am in relation to our opponents. Isn't it best that way? Paranoia certainly contradicts inner contentment. The paranoid is dissatisfied and must continually restructure. To change the subject, your work on paranoia must go forward once and for all; it will be material for the time when we are together.
My address from the 17th until the end of July is Hotel Wittebrug, The Hague. I am going with Oli and Ernst; my wife will stay here and then go to Hamburg. On August 1 there will be a big reunion in Noordwijk. Only four more days of work; I am very pleased about that, but I still have some things to work out.
