Noordwijk, August 14, 1910
Dear friend,
It is not my fault, nor that of my hesitation, if I still can't tell you whether we are passengers on the Yorck through Gibraltar. I was in The Hague and reserved from a Lloyd agent there two cabins, upper deck, outside window, confirmation of which would be sent to Noordwijk, whereupon payment would follow; but after a few days I received a foolish, actually incomprehensible notification from him, so I went directly to Lloyd in Bremen. Jones was here and laid intensive claim to me for two and a half days, but he was kind and interesting. He left before your great letter. I was still hoping to be able to show him the Jahrbuch, which Deuticke promised to send me, but it's not here yet today. I am happy that you like it. Our responses to all attacks should be of that sort.
Your fantasy didn't seem to me to be so unfounded according to the present constellation; it certainly deserves more attention than I have devoted to it up to now. We will talk about it, and I am looking forward to a friend and traveling companion between whom and myself not a hint of discord is possible. I also received yesterday an epistle from Jung1 which again shows him to be at his peak and in full possession of those qualities which justified his election.
According to your wish I will communicate freq
