Dear Professor,
I came home refreshed and eager for work, and I have already written the little contribution that I promised Stekel for the Zentralblatt (Paranoia as a Consequence of Rectal Fistula),1 and am otherwise somewhat more diligent.
In one case I was already able to verify your supposition that obsessional ideas mask erections. More about that next time.
Based on Frau G.'s sensible suggestion, I want to take my summer vacation in the month of August and take a little, special vacation for Weimar.2 My visit to Upper Bolzano, which I imagine will last two weeks, will take place during the month of August. But since you won't get to Bolzano until August 1, and since I would like to let you rest for a while undisturbed in the bosom of your family, I probably won't arrive in Upper Bolzano until about August 10-12. I will await more precise information from you on this. You know I can come any time in the month of August, so you can decide when.
The response from Jung has arrived. Very friendly, very forthcoming. But with respect to what we decided at Castle Kobenzl, I will content myself with a kind word of thanks, and I will dispense with the visit. I am enclosing the letter.3 But please handle it discreetly with consideration for Jung's special wish. I.e., I don't want it official that I shared with you the passage about the “secret arts.”
I am in great suspense about Adler's tricks. Let us hope everything is now settled and the troublemaker has been put on the spot.
Jones is writing me very friendly letters. I still have to mollify Brill with a letter before the Congress.4
Kind regards,
Ferenczi
