Vienna, June 20, 1911
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
Jung's letter enclosed. He is very kind. Stay warm with him. I know about his astrological studies, by the way.
Your visit during the time indicated is very agreeable to me, as it would be at any other. We may have difficulty in providing accommodations for you, so please notify us in a timely fashion!
The affair with Adler is now acute. Through his lawyer he has tied his resignation from the journal to conditions that are ridiculously presumptuous and quite unacceptable.1 At the same time, after his resignation from the Society a legal action is being taken against me that is supposed to culminate in a declaration and discussion in a special plenary session, with my possible resignation.2 I am inclined to be as intransigent as possible and at this opportunity rebuff everything that is disturbing. I don't know whether the majority will follow me. In any case, the whole mythology is there: aggression, covering one's behind, rabble-rousing, up and down3 are being staged, and with me the main thing is my resolve to maintain the Society and the journal. Otherwise not much new; I am counting the days until vacation, and they are passing slowly. The Interpretation of Dreams is finished5 and is already supposed to be published and distributed before my departure.
Kind regards,
Freud

“I have finally [in the original endlos, “endlessly,” rather than endlich] got rid of Adler,” Freud had written to Jung on June 15 (Freud/Jung, p. 428). Along with Adler, David Bach, Stefa
