Vienna, July 5, 1911
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
This is also my last letter before Karlsbad (Haus Kolumbus). A few days ago I composed another letter for you that was not mailed. I don't know whether my tiredness in this made me perceptive or simply depressive. The letter was preoccupied with inner changes in a deeply tragic way and was left lying until the lendemain1 because of the aforementioned doubt.
It would take too much to explain now in all its details how the Adler affair has developed further. On to Bolzano! Suffice it to say, he is now out of the Society and the newspaper, and I am on very good terms with Stekel, who has proved himself to be consistently loyal. I hope that your more active participation in the journal will be one of the desired consequences of this change.
The new journal2 has encountered difficulties. Bergmann doesn't want it; he claims it will harm the Zentralblatt, and since I need him for entering the journal into the service of the I.P.A., I will probably postpone the founding by a year.
I will look for the book for Frau Polányi, and, when I find it, I will send it off.
Dr. van Emden is becoming very attached to ΨA, which he wants to make his life's calling. He and his wife are going to Karlsbad, where I will dedicate an hour to him on an afternoon walk. So I really do have some understanding and kind company.
How is your brother, and what is Frau G. doing (to whom I ask you, please, to send kind regards)? I am still so busy that I won't get to pack before half past seven on the day of departure.
