Vienna, June 6, 1912
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
I like it very much. I also don't want to hold you back any longer. But don't take only a week's vacation, take two weeks; study everything you need and write the volume for me, publication of which I will expedite as quickly as possible. What do you think of the title: The Ucs. and Thought Transference? The term induction is not well enough known by the public. I don't know what you think about the necessity of reaching an agreement with Jung before publication. I believe you promised that; it also means no further influence on his part.
Just yesterday I got out your suggestions for the second edition of the “Recommendations.” I will have to open the new volume with an essay of that sort.1
Maybe when you go on your trip your path will take you to Vienna for an evening.
There is probably some connection between your scientific plan and your silence about family matters.
In a hurry, so that you won't be held up by waiting for my reply,
With kind regards,
Freud
See letter 285 and n. 2. Freud had originally intended to publish his second treatise on the recommended techniques of psychoanalysis (“On Beginning the Treatment,” 1913c), as well as the first (1912e), in the Zentralblatt. Because of the conflict with Stekel, who thereafter continued to publish the Zentralblatt alone (see letter 332 and n. 1), Freud launched the newly founded Internationale Zeitschrift für ärztliche Psychoanalyse with his essay in 1913.
