Internationale Zeitschrift Für Ärztliche Psychoanalyse
Vienna, June 12, 1913
Dear friend,
Today I sent you the first galleys of Totem. There is nothing in them; they belong to the thorn hedges behind which the princess is sleeping. But interesting passages come later, unfortunately also some among them that are in need of improvement. I have retreated far from my initial high opinion of the work and am, on the whole, dubious about it. I would be very pleased if you could alleviate my difficult task by means of a suggestion or addition: so I will refrain from correcting the later passages in question until you send it back, and I strongly request that you express yourself promptly.
In thirty days I will close up the place. I am already very enthusiastic about the vacation. Glad to hear that I will see you again in June.
Jones seems to be very satisfied.
Cordially,
Freud
