[Rome,] September 13, 19131
[Moses]2
returns your greeting and is entirely of the same opinion as you about the Congress in Munich.
Yours,
Freud
Picture postcard from Rome with Michelangelo's statue of Moses at the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli.
The greeting is written on the side of the card with the picture. The date and “Yours, Freud” are written, like inscriptions, on the pedestals to the left and right of the statue; the remaining text is at the base. The arrangement of picture and text should therefore be interpreted in such a way as to suggest that the statue is the subject of the statement. Ferenczi seems also to have understood it as such.
