Dear friend,

Only reporting to you that I have arrived, still somewhat drunk from the beauty of the seventeen days in Rome. A stomach ailment today is preparing my transition to everyday life. Today I have four hours, tomorrow five, in a week the prospect of nine. Nothing especially interesting there.

Narcissism is, so to speak, finished. I would like to discuss it with you, that is to say, give a lecture to our friends, if you were here. For the time being I can't send you anything, because not a line has been written “in fair copy.” A number of interesting things have come out, e.g., the connection with Silberer's fateful discovery.1

Rank has probably already told you that we, along with Heller, have cooked up an idea for “supplements” to the Zeitschrift,2 in order to be independent of the Jahrbuch in publishing larger works. Qu'en dites-vous?
