Dear Professor,
I am sending you here an attachment to the letter dated October 3, which I didn't finish writing only because I had reservations as to whether I can keep my promise to be in Vienna on the 12th of the month. Groundwork, which I am doing in preparation for my docentship1 (the success of which is actually quite doubtful), necessitates my being here, and I had to postpone the decision from one day to the next. Now it is certain that I am not coming to Vienna. Perhaps next Sunday (the 19th).
