Vienna, December 21, 1913
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
As you learned from my reply to your telegram, I was so intensely preoccupied in the last two weeks, fortunately also capable of working, that I wasn't able to maintain my accustomed correspondence. A strong diminution in my practice will probably follow these feverish days, after I return from Hamburg. I am leaving Wednesday evening, can remain in Berlin from 8 to 8 o'clock, in order to discuss all necessary matters with Abraham, and will then be in Hamburg at 7. On Sunday at 3 I will make the return trip without interruption and will be in Vienna on Monday morning.1 I expect you will come to Vienna during these holidays because of your nose and Jones, but this time I won't be able to count on seeing you. There are only a few tasks left hanging; I would have been able to share some things with you on scientific matters—masochism,2 for instance.
I am taking along to Berlin the copy of Abraham's critique,3 with its many layers of marginalia.
