Vienna, January 8, 1914
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
You will have received the request of our esteemed president to express ourselves regarding the location of the next Congress. Again incorrect, since a different decision has been taken with regard to the Congress.1 What are you thinking of doing? On no account should you respond until you have come to an understanding with us, Berlin, and London. Rank will write to you about further details.
Today Jones sent a letter from Putnam reporting that his youngest, 17-year-old daughter (not Griselda) died of diabetes.
He further claims that in 1909, as a child, she was in our company.2 I can't remember that at all. It would be interesting to know if you can.
This miserable strike3 is still crippling us.
With kind regards to you and Frau G.
Yours,

“Report on the Fourth Congress of the IPA in Munich on September 7 and 8, 1913,” Zeitschrift 2 (1914): 407, reads: “For the next site of the Congress Dr. Abraham suggested Schandau bei Dresden, and Heidelberg was suggested by the other side. After a slight majority favored Schandau, it was decided to ask the groups again before the next Congress.”
