Internationale Zeitschrift für Ärztliche Psychoanalyse
Budapest, May 13, 1914
Dear Professor,
Since Brioni I have been well, physically, which with me goes along with (intellectual) productivity. Stemming from the problem of enuresis, some ideas have occurred to me about the “amphimixis of partial instincts” at the onset of the primacy of the genital zone.1 This time I set about not to dissipate the matter with epistolary and oral discourse, but to write the matter up and—without regard for possible disgrace—to send it to you as free associations on this theme.
The unanimous outcome of the presidential election surprised me. Is there something malicious behind it?2
I received the enclosed card from Dr. Ophuijsen,3 which I answered in a conciliatory tone, but not without remarking that he could see from the issues of the Zeitschrift that have been published so far that we are not timid about proceeding ruthlessly (if the cause demands it). He can also believe us when we assure him that this time there was no reason to do so.
My practice is going well.
Kind regards,
Ferenczi
