Kôtaj, August 7, 1917
Dear Professor,
In his capacity as an expert, Dr. Sachs should already have expressed himself about the suitability of this place as a country residence for Fräulein Anna.1 I am sending here the formal invitation of my sister, who requests notification of the time at which she should expect her guest.
We were indulging here with Sachs in the culinary pleasures of a nutritional milieu which has been left untouched by the war. Unfortunately, the things that are available here in abundance won't stand the long transport to the Tátra. From Tátrafüred I sent chocolate and talcum powder, from Kótaj fifty cigars, which have probably arrived. Fräulein Berger in Ujpest will do her utmost.
The flower that I am sending here is for you a very significant plant specimen: nicotiana tabacum. The vintage is—said to reassure you—moderately good. It will interest you to know that here in the garden thorn apples and figs also grow; the latter are already bearing half-ripe fruit.
I am beginning to regret the all too speedy end of the vacation, which has not been entirely exploited.
I will write soon from Budapest.
Kind regards to Frau Professor and to Fräulein Anna.
Yours,
Ferenczi
