IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
I enclose for you the two pages with the missing interpolations. At the place where it says “falsifications of the normal errors in thinking,” only a comma before the last word has been left out.
I have also been thinking about our duty to Putnam. I immediately wrote to Jones with an inquiry as to whether he will do the obituary himself or leave it to me. In the latter case, he should send me the biographical data and the index of his works before 1910. From then on I have it in a publication which also presents a good picture of him. If Rank can't bring any strong objections to bear, we will carry out your very justified suggestion in no. 2.
It is a great pity for him; for us, actually. He had an enviable end.
Jones is also expressing himself to me in a very satisfied way about the lively interest in England. He wants as soon as possible to publish an English journal, if possible, an English edition of the International. Rank had the very sensible idea of inviting him to a meeting in Switzerland where they can make up their mind on this and yet another question. You see, Pfister reports that a publisher in Bern1 likewise wants to bring a trilingual Ψα publishing house to life under the direction of him [Pfister], Claparéde, and a third person, and he asks how he should act. Rank wants to try and find out if cooperation is possible there.
By way of Sachs I also received the second, very respectable edition of Jones's Papers on ΨA.2 Jones would like us to translate two new essays from it and put them in the Zeitschrift; Anna is already busying herself with the one, Sachs is taking the other.3 I think you can now also request him to send your book (the translation of your works),4 and I would be very pleased with a second copy, if possible.
According to information from Pfister, things are going quite badly in Zurich with Jung's cause, and the founding of the new branch society is in
