Budapest, December 17, 1919
Dear Professor,
I am in possession of both your letters of December 3 and 11. I will come back to them, but first I want to report something more important in all haste.
I noted that in the prevailing climate our previous patrons Garami and Bárczy have no influence with Bódy. For that reason I am utilizing my chance personal acquaintance with Dr. Baránsky1 (a lawyer), who is assuming a leading role in one of the Christian parties and is getting interested in humanitarian affairs of the city, and I sent him to Bódy.

He also admitted that he would prefer that the money be earmarked for child welfare purposes. I myself would have to receive two telegrams from our friend: an official one, in which I am entrusted with the continuation and termination of the negotiations (with this one I can go to Herr Bódy without delay), and a private one.—
In the latter I would have to receive directives as to how to conduct the negotiations. In order to facilitate communication by telegram I suggest that we simply designate the following modalities by means of the letters alpha, beta, gamma:
Alpha: Justification for making changes in the or
