Semmering, Villa Schüler,
July 16, 19241
Dear friend,
I have received the Dutch essay that you intended for me from Storfer, read it, and think it should be printed without corrections. It is in and of itself unnecessary that we are in agreement with all the particulars that we put in the Zeitschrift, and we have no right whatsoever to get involved in a contribution to a festschrift in honor of someone else.
You have here my new address. I inhabit this beautiful villa as the only male creature with seven women (wife, sister-in-law, two daughters, three attendant spirits, if the term is applicable to them), and I occupy myself mostly with writing my contribution for the collection of autobiographical writings in medicine, which is published by a certain Grote. So, once again, a history of psychoanalysis, fourth or fifth infusion.2
Despite my gentle surroundings, I am suffering greatly from my nasal suppuration, which disturbs everything for me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have anything to complain about.
I hope you and your wife are enjoying the summer and the relative peace and quiet also near the city. I recently had a conversation with the lady who wants to build the house for the Vienna polyclinic. She seems to be serious. I have arranged with her that the house also contain an official residence for the director of the institute. We were both in agreement about the name of the institute's director. Let us hope it really comes to that.
With kind regards.
Yours,
Freud
