Sorrento, September 11, 19251
Dear Professor,
Wherever I get to, I think of the beautiful trips we took together in Italy. I intend to write about the Congress2 and other scientific movements as soon as I settle down peacefully somewhere. General impression of the Congress, despite some small disturbing moments, very favorable; incidentally, you know everything through Fräulein Anna and Eitingon. Hope to be able to visit you on the way back. My wife greets everyone cordially.
Yours truly,
Ferenczi

The Ninth International Psychoanalytic Congress in Bad Homburg, September 3-5, 1925. It opened with Freud's “Some Psychical Consequences of the Anatomical Distinction between the Sexes” (Freud 1925j), read aloud by Anna. Ferenczi spoke about “Contraindications to the Active Psychoanalytic Technique” (1926, 271). Abraham was reelected president of the IPA. In addition, an International Training Commission was constituted to deal with questions of analytic education. See the report of the Congress in Zeitschrift 11 (1925): 506-528. The conflict between Abraham/Sachs and Bernfeld/ Storfer over their respective film projects was seething behind the scenes.
