Vienna, April 22, 1928
IX., Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
Now you are probably home again. I was very pleased to hear that you indulged yourself in the little excursion. I didn't doubt that you could still be young, still have ideas, and will share all kinds of important things with us.
Don't write to me again about my health. I am clearly in a decline. If I owned more, I would give up working.
Perhaps you will smile about the contrast when I ask you not to forget to send back the two issues of the English journal, if you have finished with them. But one continues one's small interests by force of habit.
The inner development of ψα everywhere runs counter to my intentions, away from lay analysis to the purely medical specialty, which I sense to be ominous for the future of analysis. Actually, I am only sure about you that you share my point of view without reservation.
Cordially,
Freud
