On the next day the Eleventh International Psychoanalytic Congress began under the direction of Eitingon (running until July 31, 1929). Ferenczi spoke on “Fortschritte der analytischen Technik” [Advances in Analytic Technique] (1929, 287a; revised as “Relaxationsprinzip und Neokatharsis” [The Principle of Relaxation and Neocatharsis] [1930, 291]) and gave an introductory paper to a discussion on “Termination of the Analysis.” In the meeting of the International Training Commission, a new committee on clarification of the question of lay analysis was instituted, of which Marie Bonaparte, Brill, Helene Deutsch, Eitingon, Ferenczi, Anna Freud, Jelliffe, Jones, van Ophuijsen, Sachs, and Sarasin were members. Eitingon was reelected president of both the IPA and the International Training Commission by acclamation. See Anna Freud's detailed report of the Congress in Zeitschrift 15 (1929): 509-542.
