Dear Professor,
You are probably thinking how hard it is to connect again after such a long hiatus. But you have encountered so much that is human in the course of your life that you can also understand and excuse such conditions of being drawn back upon oneself.
Enough of that: I was and still am immersed in a very difficult inner and outer, certainly also scientific, “work of purification,” which has not produced any final results as yet— and one can't come forward with anything that is half finished. The scientific is still grouping around technique, the working over of which, however, allows some theoretical things to appear in a somewhat altered light. In my usual fashion, I do not shy away from coming to conclusions, to the extent that this is at all possible— often up to a limit where I lead myself “ad absurdum”; but that doesn't discourage me. I try to move forward in other, often precisely opposite ways, and I still have the hope of finding the right path at one time or another.
That all sounds very mystical—please don't be frightened by it. As far as I can judge myself, I am not (or only rarely) overstepping the bounds of normality. To be sure, I often make mistakes, but I am not rigid in my prejudices.
Healthwise, I have been doing somewhat better very recently. Will that also become connected with the psychic? I don't know for sure.
For the time being I am making do with these intimations and am utilizing this occasion to inquire about your health. Your Anna recently reassured me about it.
