Dear Dr. Jones,
I have had a bad day for writing, my cramp being on its acme I know not why but I will not postpone the letter to a next Sunday.
I did not hasten to answer you letter of the 17th April,1 partly because it did not correspond to mine2 and partly from the [ex]3 impression I had ventured too far into the intimacy of your motives. I see you did not resent it although it is clearly a case when a man must act according to his own mind and cannot take another man's counsel. Now I find the situation is all improved by one bit of good news in you second letter. If you get the professorship this (next) month and go on lecturing for one season you may lieve [leave] Toronto without harm to yourself. I objected seriously to your going away before gaining the title. The loss for America may be the same in both cases, but I am sure ΨA will not lose you. In England you will have to begin anew from the very beginning and perhaps this is a charm attractive to you temper.
Now for your single questions in both letters. Just today Jung proposes in N. 5 of the Korrespondenzblatt the terms of 16/17 or 21/22 Sept. for the Congress, which is to take place at Weimar. I am forced by private
motives to vote for the later one, the first one being too near to a certain domestic anniversary.4
Your infantile theory (a secondary one, never treated by me in extenso) is very nice. You ought to collect some of these theories for the Zentralblatt. To be sure it is semen and that is poison. We must add “medicine” to the list of equivalent fluids and excretions in Stekel's symbolic Gleichungen.
The 3d edition of the Traumdeutung5 will meet you as Rank promised in a few weeks, perhaps not later than the new Jahrbuch. In a paper of mine therein you will detect a sign that I did not read B. Shaw without profiting from him.6
