My dear Jones,
I cannot see why you should not be permitted to publish your Angstpaper in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, nor do I think the other two would object to it.
As for your wife I am glad to give you full information before you come here; as you might easily find her in another comdition [condition] that [than] she has been in all these weeks. I am under the impression that you do not realise completely how well she is. There has been no other “kidney”-attack since the first which was finished in so dramatic a way by that long letter to you. The counterpart of that constellation showed itself, when she was not able to write you for nearly three weeks and at last managed to get the forced letter lost, to be sure by some unconscious error in ad[d]ress or so. We have got down to nearly 1/4 of the morphia with no sacrifice at all, yet have to be prepared for some noise when the last dose is taken away. I would not accelerate the rate, for the later the more attached will she be, and I have no interest in spoiling the week you will spend with her and with us. There is not the least doubt that a big lot of good has been done to her, the greater part of it destined to be of lasting character. How far we can go in the way of recovery I cannot prophesy, it depends on her resistance against normal sexual relations, where I expect the citadel of resistance. Perhaps she will be eager to begin intercourse and feel highly disappointed when anaesthesia has not subsided, as will be the case. The rest of morphia is reserved for her consolation. The monthly made some demonstration at due time but didn't think it expedient to make its appearance.
